Metric Buff Bricks 65mm

Metric Buff Bricks 65mm x 215mm x 102.5mm

In the brick world "buff" tends to include brick colours such as yellow, beige, and cream etc. So good luck.

Page down to see a selection of the types we stock. Don't forget you can use our "find" facility to search for descriptive aspects of the brick you are seeking - like "dimpled , rustic , yellow, patches" etc .

Buff Brushed Concrete 65mm

Concrete Buff Multi Brushed Texture 65mm

"It looks a bit like concrete or stone. It's got a roughish surface - but not as rough as pitched face stone. Its yellow - ish - with occasional reddish patches"

A number of firms have made bricks like this one. There used to be a range from "Peakstone" which was quite popular. This brick has been used to match that in the past. We also stock a red multi , salmon coloured and dark purple version. The makers have changed the name of it - but if you think its what you want - contact us.

Buff Dragface 65mm

Buff Dragface 65mm

This beige coloured brick has a dragface finish (like small squarish holes on the face). Its actually classed as a sanded dragface because its also got some sand on the face which tends to give it more of a matt than a gloss finish.

We can supply you with lighter , darker, more multied , sanded or unsanded bricks like this. Just tell us what you need - or better still either bring us a sample or email a close up picture to sales@brickcentre.co.uk

Heavy Textured Buff Rustic 65mm

Heavy Textured Buff Rustic 65mm

This extruded (machine made ) buff wirecut has a very deep rustic surface ( a little like bark texture running from right to left along the face of the brick). Its a yellow-ey cream with occasional very small whitish blotches which can be almost unnoticable).

For a heavy textured red - see our brick No 549. For a darker - more multied heavy textured buff - see our brick No 643. We also do a much finer textured version either plain or multi. (The Multi is our brick No 604).

Buff Multi Heavy Textured Rustic 65mm

This brick has changed over the years.....

Since we first encountered this brick in the 1970s we've seen it vary in both colour and texture over the years. It was originally known as Nottingham Brick Dorket Honeygold 65mm . It's a classic example of why - if you are building an extension - you need to be very careful that the brick you order will match.

We can remember when it was a much lighter yellow with less rustic texture and the patches were more blue than grey to brown. We've stocked it for over 20 years - so if you are matching an older version - have a look at the bricks in stock 1st! We also stock the red version ( see our brick No 79).

Fine Wirecut Rustic Textured Buff Multi 65mm

Buff Multi Fine Wirecut Rustic 65mm

A through coloured buff brick ("biscuit coloured" as some would say) -with a fine wirecut texture (like lines cut into the surface texture from right to left). This is a multi brick - with occasional darker (brown?) patches. Some people might say that it looks a little like the Ibstock Beacon Sahara Multi that we supplied many  of - when made at the Leicester factory.

Calcium Silicate Buff Multi 65mm

Sand & Lime Buff / Grey / Black Multi 65mm

There seem to be less and less Sand & Lime bricks around these days! Mansfield Brick used to make several nice ranges and this brick has been described as quite a good match for some of their Dukeries Buff Bricks. The Dukeries tended to be a mixture of very dark bricks with a roughly equal amount of a different coloured brick - eg buff, brown etc. This brick contains a similar mixture . If you are trying to match a redder brick - look at our No 794.

"Yellow" Multi Fine Wirecut 65mm

"Yellow" Multi Fine Wirecut 65mm

The main colour of this brick is quite a bright yellow colour. It has a distinct but fine wirecut texture ( a bit like lines drawn across the face from right to left). A fundamental characteristic is  gingerish , brownish patches . If the brick you are matching is like this but plain yellow - you may have an old Butterley Bedford Buff. (There is a way of matching this - but we may need to suggest re colouring of a brick... ask us about tinting). If yours is plain but more beige or brown - you may want to look at our brick No 3. It normally has 3 holes & we first encountered it around 1980. (An interesting little feature which may help to identify it is that it tended to have slightly rounded edges to the brick (along the 65mm length).

Buff Multi "Smile" Texture

Buff Multi "Smile" Texture 65mm

We have noticed a fair amount of batch variation over the years with this brick so it may be worth looking at the packs. The overall surface face is smoothish but covered with a very fine sand. There are characteristic half moon / smile like cuts in the surface of the brick. It normally has three holes. When we first encountered it around 1980 - it tended to have a slightly less drastic "cut mark" on the face - more like a "valley" than a "cut". See also our red version which is our brick No 4 - in our Metric Red Section.

Buff Sandfaced 65mm

Buff Multi Sandfaced 65mm

This yellowish buff sandfaced brick ( surface a bit like medium sandpaper) was first supplied by us in around 1985. For years London Brick Company had made a VERY BRIGHT yellow brick called GOLDEN BUFF. By the late 1980s we had noticed that this brick had tended to darken in many areas - because of natural weathering - so many customers found this multi - darker yellow brick useful for matching some weathered original bricks. Note there are some reddish  & "almost biscuit" coloured bricks usuallly included in the mixture. This is a frogged brick. Again --batches seem to vary so it can be worth checking our stocks.

Buff Multi Heavy Textured Rustic 65mm

Buff Multi Heavy Textured Rustic 65mm

This brick used to be made near Rotheram but the factory was closed a few years ago by the Manufacturers - but the brick is still made - but at a different factory. Therefore - understandably - the brick has changed a bit over the years. It's still a VERY TOUGH and hard brick with a nice deep rustic texture. ( At the time of writing this we have about the last 30,000 special bricks still in stock from the factory that closed).

Buff 45% Rustic 65mm

Buff 45% Rustic 65mm

This brick - a London Brick - has a characteristic 45 degree rustic texture ( raised lines along the face at approx 45 degrees off the horizontal). We have noticed that the texture seems to have become a little less pronounced since about 2000. Note there is also a more yellow version with black patches. Don't confuse the two. This one has been around along time - or at least since the 60s. It was seen alot on the larger estates around & since that time. There is also a red and a grey version  which we can normally supply you with.
